Lesson #12: Always check your power supplies twice.

Lesson #12 Always check your power supplies twice.

I'm such a doofus. Last night I noticed the lights in the camper getting slowly dimmer. After watching the lights slowly dim for awhile I implemented my troubleshooting plan that was sure to find the problem. I checked all of the circuit breakers, switches and fuses that I could find. At about this time the refrigerator started to slowly warm up. I was getting pretty nervous by now so I rechecked everything that I just looked at and sure enough it still looked good. I know just enoough about the camper electrical system to know that power inverters take AC power and convert it to DC power, that in turn, runs all of the lights, and control circiuts (the refergerator). As a last desperate measure I crawled under the camper to check for anything goofy on the inverter. Of course everything looked fine (as far as I could tell). I even got up once during the night to check the circuit breaker in the bathroom because a fellow camper said this caused him trouble. This morning I gave up and called professional help, the RV Doctor (he should be on my speed dial by now). After watching the fridge temp slowly rise all day the RV Doctor showed up and listened intently while I explained the symptoms. He then gathered up a handful of tools and crawled under the camper to check out the inverter. Almost immediately I heard, from under the camper "hey when did you unplug the inverter"? Aaaaggghhh!! I unplugged it a couple of days ago so that I could use that socket for something else. Another tough lesson was learned!!!
