We not only survived a week at the falls with a teenager (Kelsey) but had a great time. I was afraid the trip would be fatal for my charge card but the damage wasn't as bad as I was afraid it would be. Kelsey generated a list of things she wanted to get done and if all goes well we will accomplish the last things later today (stuff a moose at the build a bear store, yeah I know, sounds crazy doesn't it).
On Thursday Nancy, Brandie, and Alex drove up from Lake City, PA and met us on the American side of the falls. We did do a few things that we hadn't done on our previous trips to the falls. One of those was the Cave of the Winds tour. Kelsey and I both thought it was our favorite attraction here. It was truly impressive to stand at the bottom of the falls and look at all that water crashing down towards you. At the observation deck for the Bridal Veil Falls you could reach out and touch the falls, pretty cool. Another new attraction (at least to us) was the Fury of the Niagara. It was an IMAX sort of thing that was a lot of fun.
Another highlight was a wax museum which was just okay but at the end of the museum was a haunted house that absolutly scared the crap out of Kelsey. She just kept screaming and shouting "Grandpa, seriously we need to get out of here". It was really kind of fun mostly because we had no idea that the whole haunted house thing was part of the tour and Kelsey was definitely not prepared for it. It was quite a kick just watching her trying to get through the mazes.
Of course we also enjoyed the old favorites like the Butterfly Garden. Kelsey also really enjoyed the Hershey's chocolate store and I couldn't help but buy a huge (one pound) peanut butter cup that took care of my sweet tooth. It was so good we had to go back for a second one.
