We have spent four days here at Letchworth State Park and have thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We hiked several of the trails and enjoyed a raft trip down the Genessee River today. Due to the recent rains (which are still following us), the water level was very high but the rafting trip was pretty tame and very enjoyable. We got paired up with three big biker dudes but they ended up being a lot of fun.
Everyplace we go the local wildlife attempts to outsmart me and get free dinners (usually they win). This place was no exception. We purchased a locking trash can to keep critters out at night. Until now that has been very effective. Last night a big racoon was determined to get to our chicken bones. After he figured out he couldn't get into the can he started dragging it under the camper and into the woods (I guess to have his buddies help him). If we hadn't been sitting around the fire about twenty feet away watching the whole thing we would have had no clue what happened to our can and might have blamed a thief. Isn't that crazy?
