You might be a redneck if you bought your Christmas tree at Walmart, it plugs in, and it's set up in your camper. Hmmm, guess that's us. We are getting more into Christmas this year (at least Sheila is) and a got a new tree for the camper. It's got fiber optic lights and is pretty cool for a plug in tree. It sure beats the days of hanging lights and bulbs forever. (Lynn and Dustin, did you notice no tinsel) For old times sake Sheila put the Charlie Brown tree together and put it in the bedroom. We have a lot of fond memories of last Christmas (our first Christmas on the road) and that tree reminds us of them. It doesn't feel like Christmas as the temp is usually around seventy degrees but I'll take the warm weather any day. Hard to believe Christmas is less than two weeks away but it's coming quick now. Thank goodness my shopping is done (yes Sheila loves her new truck).
Went kayaking at Silver Springs today. What a really neat place. For any of you that remember the TV show Sea Hunt (not many of you are old enough), it was filmed in the river at Silver Springs. You can still see the boat that was used in a lot of the shows at the bottom of the river. It's also the spot where the Tarzan movies (featuring Johnny Weismuller) were filmed. The water is crystal clear and the scenery is gorgeous. We saw a ton of critters, including gators, turtles, otters and monkeys. Most of the gators were on the smallish side but every now and then we would see a real monster. I certainly appreciated the fact that they were on the bank and not in the water. As I carefully glided past the gators, I couldn't help but wonder, which swims faster, a gator or Mary B being chased by a gator (Now there's a visual).
The river sounds like a cool place to explore, but please don't tip. Those gators are just waiting for something tasty to come along....
