For our last day at the Outer Banks we decided to take day trip to Ocracoke Island. What a great trip. The weather was the excellent so we thoroughly enjoyed our first ferry ride. It takes about 40 minutes by ferry to get to Ocracoke and it was a perfect day to take in the sights. Once on the island we walked to the lighthouse and took in the sights along the waterfront. We had a great seaside lunch then checked out the ponies of Ocracoke. All in all it was a good trip and I would highly recommend it if you get this way.
After many months Sheila finally got her walk on the beach. Fortunately the waves were really small because as Sheila was backing up to take a picture of me just hanging out on the beach when a wave snuck up on her. She jumped pretty good but thankfully didn't get very wet.
One thing we won't miss about this place is most common free North Carolina souvenir. There are tons of liitle burrs here that stick to everything and hurt like heck when you step on them. We end up finding them for months after we leave here.
aww, the burs are the gifts that gifts that keep on giving. Did you see wild horses, I hear those are amazing to watch.
ReplyDeleteWe saw the ponies at Ocracoke and it was kind of neat.
ReplyDeleteGlad the weather FINALLY turned great once we left, and that the ferry ride over wasn't in the full rough seas/high wind & wave condition that I so dreaded...and we do believe that the "stickers" are Ron & Butch's way at getting back at us women who take our shoes off before entering the RV's....who would think those teeny-tiny weeds would extract so many swear words...
