Today started off bad and only got worse. We started climbing through the mountains this morning and the transmission kept acting up and overheating. Luckily the truck has a transmission temperature gauge so I could adjust my speed (slow down) and keep from red-lining the transmission temperature. Once we left the mountains things settled down and we got to Warrenton, Va safe and sound.
That's when things really started to go bad. We pulled into our campsite and were having an extremely hard time leveling the camper. After fighting it for awhile clever me decided to just pull out and start all over again. There was a pole near the left side of the camper and as I was carefully pulling out and watching the left side of the camper, some knucklehead (yes me), forgot to put the camper stairs back up. When I heard the screech of them being ripped off of the camper I swerved to the left and of course hit the pole. It broke a couple of light covers but fortunately the damage was pretty minimal. Just to add icing to the cake, as we were extending the slideouts a cupboard door got caught in one of them and it was pretty well mangled. NOT A GOOD DAY!!! All the more reason that traveling days aren't our favorite.
Tomorrow has got to go better.
On the plus side nobody got hurt and it was all just "stuff" that got broken and "stuff" can be fixed.
Definately some bad Teribery Mojo is running amuck! Not only did their truck & RV suffer, they extended the curse to Ron & Nan while they visited...prompting a quick new Freezer purchase. Hey everybody reading this....Wish the 4 of us well as we travel onward to do Amusement Park Haunts this weekend, and then our "fishing" week at the OuterBanks NC... when we all get together our luck only seems to be bad....oh no!
